Building Futures

The change we are seeking: To serve as a resource to help community members receive the services necessary to address their needs. If these needs are addressed the families/individuals are likely to thrive, the community fabric will be strengthened, and systemic inequities decline.

Habitat for Humanity Vail Valley is more than a home builder: We are a long-term trusted partner in social and health services.
For years, we’ve connected those in need with service providers. In 2022, the program was formalized and Building Futures was launched.

Family Story

A Collaborative Effort for a Fresh Start

A single mother with two children in Gypsum who had been living in her car for six months. Their situation became especially urgent as temperatures dropped, and the family was alternating nights between their vehicle and occasional hotel stays, a cycle that kept them living paycheck to paycheck and unable to save for the high upfront costs of housing.

The situation was flagged by Eagle County’s homelessness department. Building Futures coordinated a rapid-response task force with several organizations to secure, safe, stable housing before winter set in. They ensured the family received essentials like food, supplies, winter clothing for the children, beds, mattresses, and household furnishings.

This initiative illustrates Building Futures’ ability to forge strong partnerships beyond providing resources and guidance; they build meaningful relationships, strengthen community bonds, restore hope, and offer comprehensive support to those facing the greatest challenges.
