Habitat homeowners help build their homes. They buy their homes and pay an affordable mortgage. Habitat homeowners are dads, families, couples without children, single people – anyone who needs a safe, affordable home.

How to Apply

Applications are open. Apply by September 30, 2024.

One step at a time, you can become a homeowner.

Step 1:
Qualify

See selection criteria here.

Step 2:
Apply

Regardless if you meet the criteria or not for the Habitat homeownership program, we encourage you to apply.

Step 3:
Application Review

All applications will be reviewed by Habitat Vail Valley, ensuring each application is complete.

Step 4:
Selection

Recommended applicants are presented to Habitat’s Board of Directors for approval.

Step 5:
Partnership

Upon selection, homeowners will begin 250 Sweat Equity hours (per adult) and will participate in homeowner education classes.

Final Step:
Homeownership

Upon completion of all Sweat Equity hours and verification of down payment funds, the homeowner buys the home and begins paying the mortgage.
