Advocacy
Habitat Vail Valley advocates for affordable homeownership in Eagle County, across the state and the country. We advocate to change policies and systems to eliminate barriers to safe,, affordable housing. We believe everyone deserves a decent place to live.
With your help, we can make a difference.
Over the years, we have become the trusted experts as we increase the awareness of housing solutions. Eagle County is short 5,900 affordable housing units. In 2022, the average home sale price was $2.4 million. Families are cost burdened. In 2022, only 98 homes sold for less than $500,000 in Eagle County. Eight of those homes were Habitat homes.
We are working together to create change.
Our advocacy efforts are paying off with sustainable and inclusive policies and more affordable for-sale homes in Eagle County. We were awarded $2.3 million from the American Rescue Act Plan, once-in-a-generation funding dedicated to housing affordability. The funding received was a direct outcome of these efforts.
These funds will go toward Habitat building 24 permanently affordable homes this year.
