November Building Futures Update

November was one of the busiest months for Building Futures, managing increased outreach, supporting homeownership program interviews and family engagement. The demand for housing and support services increased. Building Futures participated in multiple community events, deepening connections and expanding awareness of available resources.

The team participated in a high-impact Human Trafficking Symposium, collaborating, sharing resources, strengthening regional prevention efforts and deepening support for families affected. Another highlight was the first session of “Finding Our Way Home Community Meeting,” where staff contributed lived experience and community insight about local housing affordability and stability.

November marked a 16% increase in the number of families served compared to the same month last year, which highlights rising community demand and expanded capacity. Housing stability was the predominant need, accounting for 58% of services. Other areas included general support such as employment assistance, legal navigation, financial planning and health-related services.

Building Futures is projected to serve 25% more families than in 2024. It remains a key resource, offering comprehensive support services to strengthen families and communities.

This month’s success story:

A single mother with two children in Gypsum who had been living in her car for six months. Their situation became especially urgent as temperatures dropped, and the family was alternating nights between their vehicle and occasional hotel stays, a cycle that kept them living paycheck to paycheck and unable to save for the high upfront costs of housing.

The situation was flagged by Eagle County’s homelessness department. Building Futures coordinated a rapid-response task force with several organizations to secure, safe, stable housing before winter set in. They ensured the family received essentials like food, supplies, winter clothing for the children, beds, mattresses, and household furnishings.

This initiative illustrates Building Futures’ ability to forge strong partnerships beyond providing resources and guidance; they build meaningful relationships, strengthen community bonds, restore hope, and offer comprehensive support to those facing the greatest challenges.
