Building the story of home is often about a labor of love. On July 29, Habitat for Humanity Vail Valley will celebrate this story for eight new Habitat families as they break ground on the organization’s 100th home. We invite you to join us on the journey to homeownership.
Three years ago, the organization met with partners, supporters and community members in developing an updated strategic plan. One lofty goal that came from the plan was to increase the number of houses built annually as well as break ground on the organization’s 100th home. On Thursday, July 29 at Stratton Flats in Gypsum, both initiatives will be celebrated.
Habitat’s vision is one where everyone has a safe place to live. By breaking ground on eight more homes, the vision is one step closer to reality. In today’s ultra-competitive and tight housing market, an affordable home can feel more like an unattainable dream than a realistic goal. Habitat for Humanity Vail Valley is working to change that, one family at a time.
A safe, decent home is so much more than four walls. It’s a place where families can love, laugh and learn together. Housing stability allows children to do better in school, oftentimes with fewer absences. It allows parents the opportunity to spend more time with the family, being active participants in their community.
Adults in the families who are selected to become Habitat homeowners commit to volunteering a minimum of 250 hours. Along the way, they learn about the construction process, tenacity in completing their goals and meeting new neighbors and friends. It’s an honor for HFHVV to be part of this process.
