Housing + Behavioral Health

Tanya Solis

“You don’t realize what students are going through—things I never thought kids that age would be going through. It’s so hard to comprehend they are going through all this stuff and still trying to go to school and get homework done,” shared Tanya Solis, a new Habitat homeowner, social worker and Early Childhood Counselor.

Tanya is a lifelong local who is helping build her home and making life better for the younger generation. She connected English Language Learners and their families with school programs. The need for a safe home underscores the work Tanya does. She’s always had a strong support system, tight with her mother and sister. But she saw firsthand just how challenged kids are who have to grow up too fast.

Tanya now creates connections and behavioral health supports for families and the younger generation. She was the equity coordinator BMHS and the Hope Center before moving on as Early Childhood Counselor for all preschool programs from Vail to Gypsum. In this role, she supports families and children with mental health and social-emotional development by providing them with the resources and strategies to use and how to use them with their children and within their family dynamic. She’s advocating so they too have a chance to soar.

Tanya’s Habitat home will allow her to continue to thrive near her family and provide support stability for future generations.

Critical Workforce

Andy Sandoval

Andy and Ale grew up in Eagle County and knew they wanted to stay here to be difference makers. Their living situation was in peril with no affordable housing opportunities. Andy is a bedrock of his community, is an engaged law enforcement officer and a community connector.
