John Welaj joined Habitat for Humanity Vail Valley in 2008 as Executive Director. He works closely with management staff, executive committee and board overseeing and managing all programs within a $10-million annual budget. John also participates on the Finance and Development Committees, provides strategic planning and visioning, promotes best practices and, most importantly, encourages the team to have fun. As Executive Director, he is thrilled to work with a great team and make a difference in our community.  

John earned a Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University and received his MBA from University of Denver. Prior to joining HFHVV, John held senior management positions for the Steadman Hawkins Clinics in Vail, Denver and the nonprofit Research Foundation.  

On his off hours, John crafts outdoor adventures that may include fly fishing, mountain biking and skiing. He also relishes travel, food and craft beer with his wife, Gina.
