Habitat Vail Valley Homeownership Coming to Vail

The opportunity to own a Habitat home brings affordability to Vail

There is good housing news for hardworking locals who have longed to call Vail home. Habitat for Humanity Vail Valley has committed to providing 10 homeownership opportunities in the Town of Vail as part of the Timber Ridge redevelopment.

The opportunity to own in Vail might be even more tempting as the ski season is around the corner, home prices continue to climb and interest rates remain higher than in the past. The 10 condos are three bedroom / two bathroom with a dedicated outdoor parking space — with views of Vail Mountain. Ground has broken on this private-public partnership, with an expected move-in date 2026.

The Town of Vail and Eagle County Government have committed $2 million each towards Habitat Vail Valley’s inaugural mortgage lending pilot program for the Timber Ridge Phase II redevelopment project.

For the first time, Habitat won’t be the developer but will issue zero-interest mortgages affordable to qualified buyers earning up to 80 percent of the area median income. Homes will be price-capped and deed-restricted, ensuring they remain affordable in perpetuity, so families will have a place to call home for decades to come.

Habitat homeowners are educators, law enforcement officers, tradespeople, healthcare, grocery store and resort employees who make the Town of Vail and greater Eagle County vibrant places to live.

“We are so excited to be part of this innovative homeownership solution. Eagle County Government and the Town of Vail are leaders in affordable housing. This program allows Habitat families to purchase a home and build their lives in Vail,” says Elyse Howard, vice president of philanthropy and community affairs with Habitat Vail Valley.
