International Build in Nepal (October 2012)
The 2012 International Build trip was a tremendous success. The enthusiastic group of 21 volunteers traveled thousands of miles to build alongside hundreds of volunteers from around the world to construct 37 homes in Nepal. The experience was powerful for everyone involved including the Habitat Partner Families who purchased the homes. Part of the goal is to build within the construction parameters that can be sustained by the developing country after the volunteers depart. It wouldn't be beneficial for us to use equipment or tools that they do not have access to once we leave. The connections between people were created and the quality of construction was achieved! Click here to read about the experience first hand.

Fox Hollow Completion Party (July 21, 2012)
Habitat celebrated the completion of our largest project. Fox Hollow is now home to 16 hardworking, local families.  The last two families moved in sometime in April 2012 making the neighborhood complete.

Over 100 local Habitat for Humanity supporters showed up for the big celebration including home cooking and a bouncy castle. The warm day ended in a water balloon fight and the hoses were brought out in retaliation! It was the prefect representation of any good neighborhood celebration!  Click here to read the Vail Daily article.

Habitat for Humanity is proud of the Fox Hollow Development and we look forward to many more, future celebrations!

Stratton Flats Ground Breaking (May 17, 2012)

The new Habitat Partner Families enjoyed the sunshine of Gypsum, Colorado as we broke ground on our new neighborhood. The Stratton Flats parcels will provide 18 new homes and is part of HFHELC’s $6 million capacity building campaign, aimed to secure the funding for 10 years’ inventory of land and the construction costs for 75 homes locally and 75 homes internationally through the global tithe program.

“This new chapter in the HFHELC story is exciting on many levels,” said John Welaj, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity. “It represents our next step in providing opportunities for families to build and purchase homes in this area. We are excited about our partnership with Pauls Corporation (the developers of Stratton Flats) and we look forward to working with the Town of Gypsum-who we’ve shared  a good relationship with in the past.”

Carpenters' Ball (March 10, 2012)

The 13th Annual Carpenters' Ball brought out some good ole boys and girls sporting some cowboy chic attire. There was a great juxtaposition of music and art as a beautiful painting by Carrie Fell was featured and auctioned to benefit Habitat. There were also gorgeous renditions of artwork by the children of Red Sandstone Elementary that lined the 'Hallway of Hope'. There were many great table sponsors and incredible auction packages. But the true spirit and intention of the evening was to generate funds for Habitat for Humanity to keep doing what we do best... build homes for people in need.

Home Dedication - Castillo and Garcia Families (December 22, 2011)

Dozens of people crowded in for the dedication, led by Tommy Schneider, pastor of Calvary Chapel Vail Valley, and Eagle County Commissioner Jon Stavney.

“The thing about Habitat for Humanity houses that's so powerful is that while the families are only moving a half mile from where they lived, they see the community helping build their new home. They understand their community and their place in it in a new way,” said Jon Stavney, Eagle County commission.

Habitat Home Outlet Grand Opening (April 9, 2011)
